What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device to remember information about your visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These cookies are essential to operate the Site and cannot be switched off. We set a single session cookie (dc_admin_session) when an administrator signs in to the admin dashboard. Visitors do not receive this cookie.

We also use dc_consent in your browser’s local storage to remember your choice on the cookie banner so we don’t ask you on every visit.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors use the Site: which pages are viewed and for how long, how visitors arrive, approximate location (derived from the IP address, which Google Analytics 4 does not store), and device and browser type. It sets these cookies only after you choose “Accept all” on our cookie banner:

_ga — distinguishes one browser from another. Expires after 2 years.
_ga_<ID> — keeps session state. Expires after 2 years.

Until you accept, we tell Google through Google Consent Mode that analytics storage is denied, and Google Analytics does not set or read these cookies. Google may still receive limited, cookieless signals (for example that a page was loaded, the time and your browser type) that are not linked to a cookie identifier. Google Analytics keeps user- and event-level data for no longer than 14 months. You can also block it with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Separately, our server keeps its own cookieless page-view statistics: the page address, referrer, country, time, and a visitor identifier that changes daily. No cookie is set for them. See our Privacy policy for details.

Advertising

Daily Cruncher uses Google AdSense to display ads. With your consent, Google and its partners may set advertising cookies to:

show ads relevant to your interests based on your activity across websites;
limit the number of times you see the same ad;
measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

Third parties, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons or IP addresses, to collect information as a result of ad serving on the Site. How to manage cookies
